Zine: Adoption Through a Childs Eyes

Perspective, Storytelling, Craft

This zine is a personal exploration of my adoption, told from a child’s perspective as they begin to understand identity, belonging, and where they come from. Soft colors, playful illustrations, and puzzle inspired imagery are used to visually represent the idea of piecing together one’s story.

The project combines personal narrative with informative elements about adoption, designed as a physical booklet to encourage reflection and connection. By balancing emotion and education, the zine creates an approachable space for understanding a deeply personal experience.

Process

The zine began with collecting images and inspiration that reflected the world through a child’s eyes. I then sketched layouts and illustrations to explore how the story could unfold visually.

Throughout the project, I iterated on designs, refining both imagery and composition, until the narrative felt cohesive and engaging. The final result is a physical booklet that combines thoughtful storytelling with tactile, hands on design.
